Omega 3 was the first supplement I ever took.   It’s been over 10 years now so I am not even sure why I started taking it.  I think it was because I had dry skin.  But what I do remember within a week I became obsessed and started buying peanut butter, butter, and bread with omega 3 listed on the label.

I very quickly realized it had a direct impact on my mood.  I would call it the happiness supplement – still do.  Every food I owned with it got renamed to include happiness in its name.  I would walk around my office asking anyone if they wanted happy peanut butter.  And tell them just by eating this special peanut butter you could be happy too.  LOL.

I still believe that.   And I still think if you take just one supplement it should be omega 3.  But I have to say that taking the recommended dose never did anything for me.  I have always taken it at least 3 times and even more than that. I am not a doctor so I would check with your doctor and be careful when putting anything into your body.  There is a list of precautions and you must read it before you start taking Omega 3.  Read it here precautions-omega-3

I can tell you from personal experience that taking omega-3 in no way will make you fat.  In fact, probably the opposite since you will not be reaching for Sugary and fried food to make you feel better.  I have taken large doses on a regular basis and I am a size 3/5.

Omega 3 is an ESSENTIAL fatty acid that you cannot make on your own.  You must get it from food or supplements. Being deficient in Omega 3 has been linked to depression, poor memory, fatigue, heart disease, inflammation, arthritis, cancer, vision problems, mood swings, high blood pressure & cholesterol, poor circulation, bipolar, schizophrenia, ADHD, and way too many more for me to list.  This is why if I was stuck on a desert island this is the one thing I would want to have!

You can get Omega 3 from foods like

  • Edamame
  • Flaxseed Oil
  • Walnuts
  • Halibut
  • Herring
  • Mackerel
  • Oysters
  • Salmon
  • Sardines
  • Trout
  • Tuna
  • And enriched foods like bread, peanut butter, eggs, etc.

Other than the grocery store I like to buy supplements from Amazon.  My favorite is Coromega – it is a small pudding packet that tastes OK and is inexpensive for the value

The great thing about omega is it is not just a happiness supplement it affects every area of your health and beauty.
